Book a tourCommunity is a word for a group of people who have things in common. Students all go to the same school, do learning activities together and play/engage in the same play spaces.
On Mud Day, we will have a wonderful opportunity to come together for our common good and that of the Partnership for Sustainable Development Nepal.
Being a part of a community is not just important, it’s a source of joy. It’s about connecting with different people, learning from them, and creating new friendships. As members of our School community, we can help each other and work to make our community a safe and happy place.
The Mud Day event is a celebration of this joy, bringing our community together to practice inclusivity, make new connections, and develop new friendships.
Feeling safe and happy results from being community members whose actions are fair, and this has to do with how we treat other people around us. We can practice this on Mud Day by how we share the event with others. We take turns on the slide, make and eat soup together, and wait in line to have warm showers provided by student volunteers and staff. These are great ways to practically understand fairness, make friends, and have fun together!
Sharing our donations with the Panchkhal Orphanage in Nepal helps us understand what fairness looks like and see what others don’t have and how we can help. Including the students, staff and families in our event activities helps everyone feel they belong here. Having safety rules, class scheduled times and a variety of sensory-friendly activities that everyone is aware of means we are being treated equally and fairly.
I love being a part of our Mud Day Community. It is hard work to bring it all together, and as the saying goes, ‘many hands make light work’. The behind-the-scenes team of families, staff, and students are busy with the preparations.
See you all there Bold Park Community on Wednesday 26 June.
With Gratitude,
Felicity Kinsella
